Washer Jets blocked

Guest
My washer jets are blocked in my FR TDI. I have tried using a needle and even a blasted compressed air to try and unblock it. So far only half of one of the jets are spraying. Usually I can sort things with the needle, but am struggling this time. Its not leaking anywhere, so I know all the pipes are connected. This all happened after I let the washer bottle run dry, so I supect it sucked up some crud.

Any advice appreciated !

My passenger one isn't working either even after it went into the Dealers to get them both fixed. I am going to chuck it back to them to fix it for me.

I was just using normal water with screen wash concentrate . They have definately not iced up. They don't work even at 8 degrees centigrade, thanks for the link though.

My screen washers have stopped working alltogether aswell. I duno if its just a pipe that has fell off but all the water leaks out the bottom now just. Any Ideas??

If water is leaking it sounds like a pipe has come off or split. Mine just doesn't work on one side.

Take the nozzles off the car and leave them over night in either limescale remover or my personal preference as it is cheap, white wine vinegar - cleared mine and the missus pipes (ahem!) nicely.

Any idea how the leon Mk 2 ones coem off ? They don't seem to be straigtforward like most cars, as they are incorporated into the bonnet trim.

slightly off topic! My rear washer was spraying at half the pressure it was. The missus sat in the back when we went out with friends and complained the seatbelt was wet. After a little investigation the pipe joint which is behind the boot/seat trim had come apart slightly following frost and was spraying all over the inside of the trim, after an hours writhing and fiddling I have managed to nearly lose a finger but also fix the problem thus saving myself a visit to the dealer and probably a small fortune!!!!

Back on topic, I thik they are clipped into the trim. Probably have to remove the trim and split the pipe from the nozzles. These should then unclip.

Hi,

Ive not had any probs with them clogging but i do notice that the water isnt there as soon as the pump runs. Its as if the pipes empty backinto the bottle when the pump isnt running. This may cause any dirt which gets into the nozzles to get dragged back into the narrowest point of the nozzle and blocks it.

Id have thought this is to prevent the pipes freezing but they still do. I use a premix screenwash which is supposed to be for -5C but one day when i was driving, the temp slowly was falling below -1 and the nozzles froze up!

I think it would be good if the screen wash bottle had a small loop of hot water running though it, not so its at engine temp, but even around 20c would be nice to help clear the ice and stop the screen wash freezing whilst driving.
