i want more power and i realise that a bigger turbo is more than likely the only way forward so was wondering what i need? i already have a fmic and a decat dwn pipe so what else is required? also the pd150 turbo does it neeed to be hybrided? or can i just source one and put it on and have it mapped? and the uprated clutch can i just buy an uprated friction plate or do i need the release plate thing to?

many thanks simon

So you're still running on a stock clutch. If so for starters your map will be running restricted due to it.

If it were me then it would be full clutch plus either a remap with your stock turbo or hybrid if you can afford it.

I assume that you've got the brakes sorted by now, if not do it even before thinking about going hybrid.

Undertaking a hybrid project can become quite costly.

If I was you I would get an uprated clutch and a stage 2 remap done with a company that will update your remap when you eventually go for more power.

Its not about getting the cheapest place to do it, its about paying for quality of work, id rather pay AmD the £700 for an uprated clutch inc fitting than buying the clutch myself and getting a near by garage to fit it just to save a total of £100, id rather pay the extra £100 as id know AmD would do a top job on it and are a reputable tuner/garage ;) With a hybrid, id say you want all the handling mods to strengthen the car up that little more :)

pushing it , if the prices was right it wud be just the clutch , perhaps brad was giving a rough example of costings against savings

on another note , i cant see anything wrong with getting local garages / reputable mechanics to do the base work,

and get a pro to set things up /map

obviously most people would know a trusty garage ,

personally i would use my both uncles in their garage to do the legwork, and go on from there to a good tuner to set up

i know it will be done tidy , so not just tom **** or harry in a back lane somewhere

theyve already helped a ukmkiv boy out when his pd150 turbo blew ,

cleaned it all out and refitted a hybrid for him

I dont think you will see much gains from the 150PD turbo. It holds the power better than the 130PD but whether it worth the costs off upgrading - I personally dont think so.

Before you even think about changing your turbo you still got basic mods that you have done yet.

- Bushes
- Anti Roll Bars
- 160PD intake
- Clutch
- More aggressive map to suit the clutch

Going hybrid turbo can cause a a lot of problems with things failing, mapping being done right etc...I would stay away from that until your ready for the financial hurt and patient enough for it. Took me months to get car perfect. Only last 2 months have a had trouble free driving as a lot of map development went into my car.

EDIT: you need good brakes to stop the car.

As Andrewcupra TDI said, i was just giving a rough comparison about prices etc

Either powerflex or cupra bushes, and you choose what ARB would best suit you i spose. You will need the intake so your airbox can suck more air in
