Same here, I have a 65 plate 184FR manual and V5C states CUNA under engine details.

I took delivery last Friday and I think the story broke around the same time. If mine is affected then it probably doesn't make that much difference overall in the real world however if it is affected then I will go full on crazy at Seat/VAG and point blank refuse any retrograde works.

I purchased a brand new car based on the info available, if the car is no longer in line with those specs then I require compensation based on my purchase. Its the principle of the whole thing really, not so much the actual ramifications.

Have a physical look at the engine, it will put your mind at rest. The pics are in this thread of the two different types.

EA189 looking at dpf

I would think that anything pre 2012 would be affected to be honest... It then seems to be a mixed bag in terms of anything 2013 onwards.

I'll have a look at mine when I get chance but I'd hope its a 288 as I took delivery 6 days ago!

Just a thought, what about those who have had the DFP removed and re-mapped.............

Recently took delivery of a 65 plate 184FR, don't really care about the emissions or the mpg, but if any recall affected power in anyway then I would not be a happy bunny - as a "sorry" they should offer a "SEAT dealer approved remap" giving us all another 30bhp / 100nm - now I suspect that would make a few more happy bunnies :). Going to be very interesting to see how this pans out, its going to cost the VAG group a SERIOUS amount of cash, and perhaps the German government will have to get involved in some form a of financial bailout if the Americans start suing left right and centre (as they do)

I'm with you here - I bought a 184 because it is a 184 ( well 181 really !! ) with the bigger brakes etc.
If I had wanted a 150 - that's what I would have bought.

I wonder if the insurance group will drop on those cars that are de-rated in power ? ( probably not )

Hopefully the 184 won't be affected. If the scandal is limited to the 1.6 and the 2.0 150 then it makes a bit more sense. The 1.6 they would obviously want to exaggerate emissions performance and the 150 is borderline in this camp. Point is, these are both touted as economical cars whereas the 184 has a different audience.

I think the 184 is too much of a 'performance' car to be bothered by these methods of cheating. What would be the point? That being said it could just be limited by the year of manufacture...

We need answers people!

Porsche AG (the car manufacturer) is a subsidiary of Volkswagen AG, but Porsche Automobil Holding SE, which is a holding company owned by the Porsche and Piëch family owns 51% of Volkswagen AG.

A very complex setup!

There is another element to think about.

Car tax (VED) wont be retrospectively effected, in addition HMRC won't retrospectively revalorise how much tax is due on any car benefit, as that is based on the co2 rating on the V5

HOWEVER;

If this whole affair meant that all affected cars are subsequently re-tested had to be issued with a new V5 with a higher co2 rating, then both car tax & any benefit in kind tax due on the cars going forward MAY rise.

If that would be the case, who'd have to pay for that.....VAG??

According to the SEAT FAQ section on this matter they ( http://www.seat.com/owners/diesel-engines/faq.html ) had stopped delivery of any vehicles with the EA189 engine.... If you do have it I'd ring them and call them out on it. They shouldn't have let you have it according to their website!!

I'm pretty sure mine isn't affected. Even if it is, what can I do. Really going to be interesting to see how this actually pans out. Not just in the short term but the mid and long.

Don't know if anyone can answer this, I've got a brand new Leon 2.0 FR tdi 150 ordered on lease, I was due to get it in 2 weeks time as it's just got into the country.

Is this going to have that engine in? Seat won't tell me anything as although I've signed the order agreement with the lease broker the finance documentation from SEAT hasn't been sent through yet.

I read through this whole thread and have found comments ranging from yes that engine will have it to no only mk2 Leon's have it to the world is going to explode from co2 poisoning and it's all VAGs fault (may have exaggerated the last one...)
