The rns does play DVDs. Due to the sd card reader you have to cut out a small portion of the centre console to make it fit.

Don't know about the seat version

Seat one also plays DVDs, both show the directions on the large MFD (needs coding with Vag Com).

I went for the VW one for mine due to the SD card (handy for putting music on). I would also go for the VW one as it gets all the firmware updates where as the SEAT one is left in the dark.

Like someone mentioned above the VW one has the SD reader and you need to chip a little bit of the plastic away inside where the radio fits inside the dash (very easy job).

The VW one is the one to go for, it does everything the SEAT one can, plus has the SD card reader, LED backlit screen and the latest firmware.

You can change the splash screen to the SEAT one so i really can't see why anyone would have the SEAT version.

I've had the vw version before just like the idea of keeping it original with the seat version plus no battery drain

I have the latest vw one fitted in my car, plays DVDs, voice activation etc. no battery drain, easily fitted too

What firmware you running mate? There's one on eBay version B with H11 FW2760 would this cause battery drain?

Also I imagine that the SEAT version would not cause battery drain?

Battery drain is more down to the age of the unit. A very early 2007 RNS 510 from a VW wouldn't suffer either.

I take it you're aware this only applies to older cars? Anything 2008 onwards has an updated can gateway so even the newest RNS 510s work without battery drain issues
