hey, the locking mechanism on the inside of my drivers door broke so i had to climb in and out of passenger door, but..... Now the same thing has just happened to the passenger door so the boot is my new door! so before i ask around scrappers for just ibiza's, are polo's locking mechanisms gonna be the same aswell to widen my search? :D

Cheers

Sign up to vagcat.com and check the parts catalogue for your current door lock and compare with the polo parts numbers.

From checking it looks like they probably are the same with the differences being between central locking locks or not. Don't take my word for it though but I think you would be alright with a similar spec polo with the same number of doors.

i went to scrappers, three scrap yards and none of them had an ibiza mk2 :( but... i thought i may aswell try a polo or golf, and as it turned out, i got the door handle with the key, and the central locking bit on the inside of the door from a golf gti 5 door because it looked exactly the same as mine.

Anyway, the central locking bit fits perfect and looks exactly same, but the door handle is slightly different on the inside so doesn't quite fit in properly.

on closer inspection, all i need to fix my door'S', is this little metal bit that connects the door barrel to the central locking bit which cost me £2.02 from SEAT but doesn't come till tuesday, so i've been crawling in and out of boot to unlock/lock door all weekend :(

not sure if the central locking bit will work as my pump is stuff so i'll let you know if that works lol.

thanks guys, sorry for the essay^^

oh, and the 'little metal bit' that connects the door locking barrel to the bit inside the door, is deffinately different between the ibiza and golf/polo.
