If anybody out there has had the sticking vnt problem tell us at what mileage this started to happen and what did you do to rectify it.
This will be good info for all of us.
Thanks

mine started sticking at 80k. Had to get it cleaned out. The car was still under the warranty from where I bought it which was lucky. Didn't cost me a penny

its the mechanism on the turbo that moves to allow for optimum boost

the bits that move get clogged up by the suit off the diesel

Some sources say it stands for "Variable Nozzle Turbocharger". A set of movable guide vanes in the exhaust turbine change the size of the exhaust opening, making it smaller at lower gas flow volumes (lower revs) to keep up the gas speed through the turbine, so getting it to spin up sooner i.e. at lower revs.

It is fitted to my TDI 110 engine - I don't have a full list of the engines it is fitted to, though. Certainly not fitted to the TDI 90. I think all the PD engines have VNT turbos, but not sure.

The turbine is sized for the gas flow at full revs and so has no wastegate.
