Nothing worse than that..
..at a guess, it could be a missfire causing what you describe (could be a fair few other things, more description and checking the car on VagCom would
help). I'd start by checking that all the coil packs are properly pushed down..
Then consider using VagCom to scan the car for faults. It could be a missfire caused by a number of things (plugs, colilpacks, lambda sensor causing over-rich/lean, etc) - might also be a mount of some sort depending on what sort of vibration
