I reckon you've zapped your lead by having a live internet connection when you've plugged it in.

Ebay leads do work but you must disable any internet connection otherwise it will be zapped.

Haven't had it connected to Internet at all when plugged in as I turned my wifi off when plugged in.

Keep in mind that the clones not only are produced with no R&D behind the product since they use the theft of others work to enable their sale, but they also use what are known in the industry as "gray market" chips. These are chips that did not pass the OEM's tests. Rather than destroy them, the OEM chip manufacturer will sell them at a really low price. These then end up in low cost product.

Perhaps your device does not work because one or more of those chips is not up to the task.

And begin flaming as I know I will hear for stating what is real.

It's ok I'm going to save up and buy a lead and license from Ross tech website, is the license a one time license or does it have a time frame like 12 months or something?

The license is a one time license - there are no renewal fees at present, nor do we anticipate adding renewal fees anytime soon. This has been the case for 13 years now.
