VAG-COM Scan Question

I am about to connect to my car using an HEX-USB+CAN Interface, can any problems be caused by scanning the car?

Reason I ask, is that there used to be an issue with air bag controllers, so you could tell the software not to scan this, is this still an issue, or will I be safe?

I have used VAG COM before, but only old versions..

Using VCDS 805.1 on a 2006 Leon

Cheers

I guess the canbus talks to everything... that said I've happily scanned & logged into airbag modules - so they will be fine.

Several years ago, Ross-Tech discovered the issue with the airbag controllers and modified VAG-COM to not set off air bags. VCDS will not set them off either.

There are no know cases where scanning the car created problems. Certainly people have changed coding and messed up their car but scanning for faults does not create any problems. Feel free to scan and I would recommend that you save the scan for future reference. It will show all coding in all modules.
