Hi,I have got VAG-COM 409.1 US and doesn't seem to work on my leon 51 plate.I plug the cable into my car and I get "NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROLLER" WHEN I GO INTO "SELECT CONTROL MODULE" AND CHOOSE ANY OF THE OPTIONS.WHEN I GO TO TEST THE COM PORT IT COMES UP WITH,"PORT STATUS- OK, INTERFACE-FOUND,TYPE-SERIAL PASS-THROUGH, OPTO/ISO-NO, ROSS-TECH DESIGN-NO. ALSO WHEN I GO TO TEST THE COMPATIBILITY OF THE OBD II CABLE IT SAYS "CAR IS NOT ISO/OBD-II COMPATIBLE!IF THIS CAR IS VW,AUDI,SEAT,SKODA TRY SELECT ->INDIVIDUAL CONTROLLERS".

Any advice or help would be greatlty appreciated.

either you've not installed the driver (properly) for the cable

OR

you've not set the port that the cable is connected to (1-4 only)

I know about the 1-4 ports and have set that up fine.I have tried using the 311 version I think it is but that didn't work either.I am not an expert on computers.Does the driver install automatically when you install VAG-COM or do you have to do it seperately. Also when it says,"no response from controller",is the controller the car or computer?

Cheers.

Hi.I have just gone out to my car and changed the port setting and it worked only on the engine option of the control module. Most of the other control modules came up once again with "no response from controller".Checked the compatibility and said it lead was compatible. Not sure what to do next.

Cheers

no, the problems are down to your PC setup.

check / reinstall the driver

check / change the port that it's connected to (this is normally the problem)

remember which USB port you set it up on, I have 4/5 on my laptop, and the port changes if I don't use the same USB connection

I think the thing you may have missed in the advert is:-

"Please note that this is an adapter cable and not a cable with an interface

Warning: Do not link this cable directly to a laptop, you will need a interface in between the cable and laptop"

This isn't a complete lead only part of it there is usually a box that plugs into the laptop which goes in between the cable that you have bought and your laptop (this is the case with ebay leads). Official Ross Tech leads are definitely the way forward. You pays your money and takes your choice.
