Looks like somebody or something has altered your VAG-COM version and/or it's files. Download VAG-COM again from the official Ross-Tech pages and re-install the software. If you are a legitimate customer, contact us/me directly and include your personal details and we'll gladly help you with this problem.

Hi there sebastian,

I thought all the weird writing was a little strange, I have purchased a licence off you so I can wipe the vag com version off my hard drive and install a fresh version. I will need another zip file to install like last time, ill pm my details once you let me know what you require.

Can I have the new version of vag com which you can do 0-60 times etc on? thanks

p.s just wanted to ask wether cylinder misfire detection should be on/off on my car, last time I looked it said off, surely if it is off It would not pick up any msfires? is it supposed to be on/off?

Hi Jamie,

hope everything is sorted now with VAG-COM itself, now let's get back to your questions. I've put a couple of pages online in our wiki that describe your issues, just click the links on your fault codes to access them. :)

The misfire recognition should be active while idling, but there are certain conditions where it's being switched off like the warm up period, so make sure the car is fully warm before actually checking these.

Sebastian,

many thanks for all your help on this, standard sound system installed. I have noticed that the left hand speaker cuts in and out, wiring problem?

The light time limit could be down to the back interior lights staying on even when the doors are shut? could this be the switch's on the inside of the doors?

key fob does play up and sometimes does not unlock the car, I have to put the key in the door and then it will work? new battery in the fob.

No heated exterior mirror, dont have them so why would this fault come up?

I have contacted linda with the de-activation and shareware licence today via the short form so hopefully I will get my new licence soon.

I will check my car out when it has warmed up to see if the mis-fire recognition turns on, if not can I activate this?

all faults cleared and they have not come back as yet......

many thanks

good point, not actually looked to see if it has. obviously could be the reason why the car did not unlock, but why would this happen.
batteries are fairly new?

Does not do it all the time just now and again.

I had this problem - dealer said the fob was faulty - regular prob, apparently to do with wear on the plastic between the two buttons. I didn't fork out for a new one, just gave mine a good rubbing with my thumb between the buttons. I haven't had any probs in the last year after doing this!

was thinking about getting a flip key for my car but from reading the archive threads on here it appears that you cant if you have a key fob that has a frequency of 433 mhz, needs to be 433.92 or someting?

Could be, yep.

If it was a door contact your would have a different symptom, so it's more likely that you have a short t ground between the control module and the rear interior lights.

Any special area where that happens? Always the same place?

Good question, I would keep an eye on that and maybe do a hard reset to the control module...

Activates itself, no other way known.

The frequency is always 433,92 MHz, but it's often referred to as 433 or 434 MHz.

Hi sebastian,

whats the best thing to do about the rear lights staying on, short to ground?

the key fob just sometimes wont open the door at close range, it has a poor range on the fob anyway. need to check if the red light flashes or not when it does not work/open the doors.

About the key fob frequency if they are all 433.92 mhz I wander if I could get a flip key then?

you can set the keys up through vag com is that correct, you dont need the seat main dealer to programme them?

thanks
