Using built in microphone for aftermarket Head Unit

Basically as the title says, Has anyone on here fit an aftermarket head unit and used the build in microphone for the handsfree instead of the aftermarket head units microphone?

I have an Alpine IVE-W530BT this has built in bluetooth and handsfree, but the microphone isnt that great, so i want to use the in built one as it is a million times better. I dont mind chopping cables and splicing them together, but i dont really know where to start... :S

The Alpine external mic isn't great ??

TBH, that sounds like a failing of the headunit / interface ....or the mic needs to be positioned / setup better. I don't think you'll get better results by using SEAT's microphone instead of Alpine's (even if you do manage to wire it up correctly and it turns out to be compatible)

Nice idea, but fraut with danger IMO

Unfortunately the Alpine one when using the handsfree everyone has said it just sounds like i am miles away from the mic, and its just up by the sun visor, so its not far at all. Whereas the seat one was very clear and worked perfectly.

What I was thinking the Seat one would just be a microphone, That you can wire into the Positive and Negative the same way you would if you used an external Mic. But to be honest I wouldnt know which wires would be which, and I wouldn't want to go all out and chop them all up and find it doesnt work anymore lol

The Alpine one's just a microphone....

Try positioning it in the roof alongside the original one first, before cutting anything
