Started her up this morning, and was greeted by what I can only describe as a whining noise like a jet engine. As the high idle died off, so did the noise, winding down, again, like a jet engine.....
Only thing thats changed since yesterday is me taking off the engine cover.
Any thoughts anyone???

Cars in for cam belt today, so if its something they can look at I can let them know.......:cry:

i get this happening on mine, its only happened for the last couple of weeks. Exactly the same noise as you describe. The car still drives perfectly but i'd like to know what the noise is being caused by.

Having spent the morning worrying about it at work, Ive not done much work, and spent my time reading threads on here and elsewhere....
indications are that its the secondary air pump....its held together with rivets that fail, causing air leaks. Not had a chance to check this out yet as cars still in the garage....with I might add a sheared engine mount bolt....going to be an expensive day me thinks....

ah well, i know what i'll be doing in in a few weeks, spending the day messing under the bonnet. I'm getting some new Vacuum hose and new air filter so will add some time to repair the pump as well.

Well it is indeed the air pump, as confirmed by the nice men at Inde-Tech.
Cam belt and pump fitted today, coupled with drilling out the sheared bolt, and they fitted the 007 Ive never got round to doing!
All told an expensive day, and yet to sort the air pump....but hopefully my warranty will cover.
Car feels better, throttle seems more responsive with the new dv.
