I don't know too much about what to look for though. I don't really wanna part with the money for the forge one so been looking for a decent aftermarket fmic on ebay. there are a few but unsure what to look for?

Which size and core size is best etc? Total amateur at this sort of thing.

Cheers, Tom

People have used a laguna one, do a search all the info's on there.

But please understand that even the people who have the Forge ones, dont have money to waste, just understand that its a very high quality item, with R&D, and with an aftersales service, that blows other companies into the weeds!

There are others available, GRS, AM motorsport (who are good guys) that are available.

Rogers had one made up custom, and how's his? Well he's got a forge one now!!

I spoke to Forge while at the autosport show at the NEC, they had some lad come in with a 'custom fmic' wishing to upgrade to the forge. Basically his 'custom fmic' was worse than the standard smic after testing, and had been butchered to fit. It took the guys at Forge quite some time to put right the basics before their developed Ibiza specific fmic could be fitted.

Morale of the story - you can sometimes do more damage by trying to cut corners! Go with what is proven imo.

ye i had a custom fmic and it was a total waste of time and money, i went to forge to have there fitted kit which cost me £££ but was the best drive home ever! well worth the money. Buy the time u have brackets made up, silicons etc it aint worth it.
iv got a load of silicons iv u wana buy them from my failed atempt,
to be onist mate just wait til u have the money and go with the forge set up, it looks te best on the car and best performing intercooler on the market

I can afford the forge, just would rather not spend that amount on an intercooler. But you get what you pay for so will go that route me thinks.

cheers, Tom

the question is this though.... spend £500 on a cheaper solution, then have to spend £700 to fix it.... or just save up a wee bit more & spend £700 once.

i have to agree with mork 100% on this, I've heard stories (not just with Beeza's) where they have fitted other intercoolers and its gone pete tong,
Although speak to Flash also about his llaguna intercooler. aparntly that one wrks V well.

it does work very well, apart from my car always having problems, its worked well on 6 others i know and have seen! the airflow/temps are amazing.

cm2 of air is apparently not that far off the competitors ones too ;)

I normally would venture into the making my own route, but after weighing up the costs, it was only a few hundred more for a Forge that one, fitted the car better and two, looked neater once fitted.
