Uneven idle

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I've done a quick search but not seen the exact issue....

Car (LC 180) runs fine although at idle the revs continually fluctuate between 660 and 720rpm, otherwise the car runs perfectly.

Just wondering if this was normal or indication of something brewing.....(coil packs and the like?) One thing I had thought of was whether a grounding kit might improve this....

Cheers

My LCR is the same, only really noticed the other day when I figured out that trick with the climate control display... flicks between 660 - 720rpm.

Not sure I can put it down to bad fuel though, I've been running on Shell V-Power for the past 4 months or so... prior to that I've always used Optimax, BP Ultimate or Esso Super.

Me too, did the climate display trick to get the numbers....car's always been run on Optimax then VPower since new so doubt fuel issues..... as long as it's normal that's fine!!!

Cheers!

ditto, i noticed it today but it didn't sound or feel any different to drive so i didn't worry about it.

whats the trick then?

Being talked about on another thread at the moment... on the climate control panel, press and hold the re-circ button (bottom right) for a couple of seconds, then at the same time press the flow direction button "up" button (top right button). The display will show 1c. Then use the temperature increase button (the + button you'd normally use to increase cabin temperature) and you'll see the number rise (fairly quickly!). Stop when you get to 28c (or 27c if like me you get a constant reading of 4.1) then press the re-circ button again. The value on the display is your engine speed in rpm (obviously only 3 figures, i.e. 102 on the display = 1020rpm).

There are loads of others, for example 17c is the vehicle speed in km/h.

Link here ;)

dirty throttle body???

Or more likely absolutely nothing at all. It's not possible for an engine to idle exactly spot on a set number of revs. There are just far too many minute little variations in the fueling and air density/temp/pressure that happen all the time for it to be possible.

Seriously i wouldn't worry about it.
