undertray problems

I have just got back in from messing about with the poxy undertray under my car.
It must have come loose on my way home and then became caught by the nearside front wheel when entering a roundabout.
It got wrapped around my wheel and arch lining and then dragged down the road..
Mine is looking a bit worse for ware, so am thinking of replacing it. I managed to hook it up and limp home, but need to see if I can re-attach it tomorrow

I know people say that they do nothing and to just take them off, but I think that the reason I haven't been plagued by some of the common 'wet weather' Ibiza problems is that the tray has kept my engine bay nice and dry.

Does anyone have the part number for the undertray??

do you need all of them as some are nuts over studs (that break off) and others are bolts into captive nuts (again sieze and break off)

Seat want £1 per fixing.
Think I will wait to get it over my mates pit and see if I can fix it up more securely without.

Most annoying thing about the undertray (on all cars I've owned) is that I don't think there is a single garage out there that takes the time to remove and re-attach them properly. They just pull at them until the fixings pop off or break, then just tuck them in around the bumper once they've finished.

A week later you wonder what that grinding noise is over the bumps...

Mine was destroyed when the garage changing the cambelt omitted three of the fixings when refitting causing it to drop down at 70mph!!!

So I bought one of these:

I think they are about £150 from the dealer!!!

Exactly the same as the original (99MY AGG 8v) and has a hole in the NS for the end of the gearbox (the blank with VW pressed in) to poke through! Got to be the same on both 8v and 16v!

Does that under tray fit bob on? There's still a couple available.

Cheers for the quick one mate, going to consider one for the hack. Probably make minimal difference but it must reduce drag.

hey jenk, wouldn't it be better without one for cooling purposes for your track hack?
as the heat would have less to radiate to?

i might buy one of them tho, thanks DC :D
