Tyre Pressure Monitoring

Being a bit of a thicky and not getting any info in the manual, does anybody know how the tyre pressure monitoring works. I've got a few questions.
1, I've pressed the button by the handbrake and held it down, you then get a beep, does this mean its working?
2, Are the sensors like the Renault ones where you have to get new ones every time you change your tyres, or do they work in a different way?
Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Rich,

1) by pressing the button for approx. 3 sec., you've initiated a recalibrating of the tyre-control, confirmed with a beep.
You usually should do this after checking tyre-pressure at the service-station or when mounting/changing wheels.

2) I deliberately stated the so called "tyre-pressure-control" only as "tyre-control", as it doesn't really monitor any pressure at all, it just compares the steady recordings of the ABS-data for each wheel seperately, and when it comes to considerable differences in toleration, it sends the warning. So you'll be informed as soon as a tyre will start running flat or is loosing pressure immoderately.
So it's not combined with the wheels or valves ... just the ABS-unit is responsible.

Hope that helps

That's a strange tyre pressure device... does it automatically warn you, sounds like it doesn't which doesn't really sound too helpfull, a lazy man's way of doing a pressure check. What if they are all deflating at the same rate, presume it doesn't tell you ?.

Oh yes it does warn you!

The wheels are recorded separately and each is compared with the reference data collected when recalibrating (pressing the button). So it doesn't matter if it's only one or all 4 at the same time loosing pressure ... the beep and the signal in the speedometer will warn you that there is trouble ahead.

But you're right ... one's getting kinda lazy checking the pressure every now and then ... I did with my summerwheels (approx. 5000 mls.) only once, and they were still fine... winterwheels checked once as well so far: no loss of pressure at all.

And no beep so far ... :)

You'll start the calibration at the beginning of a trip. The signal confirms that the calibration-tour is started and from then on there are several internal measure points at different speedlevels where the system records the reference data ... without any feedback to the driver, i.e. you're not informed about this.
After a couple of minutes of regular travel the system should have recorded the necessary data ... the learning phase is done and the controlling process will take over.
