Tyre Help Please!

I bought my 55 Ibiza 1.2 last year and the tyres are close to needing replacing. The current tyres are 195/55/R15 85V spec, but every tyre supplier that I provide with my registration suggests 195/50/R15 82V spec. As I understand it, changing profile will alter the circumference of my tyres and introduce speedo errors etc.

So the question is, has the previous owner fitted incorrectly-sized tyres or are the supplier suggestions inaccurate? Does anyone have a similar Ibiza that they could check, or know of a way where I could check factory tyre specs myself?

Thanks in advance.

the speed difference is 3.5% and approx .4" on the radius comfort and performance differences will be marginal but ideally front and rear tyre ratio's ought to be the same if there are savings to be made size for size ((and like for like quality) don't buy rubbish)) and the other two are past their best as well, then that may be the way to go p.s speedo's usually run approx 10% fast

I think that I had that problem with my wife's 2003MY Polo SE, I always fitted the "55" tyres but the "50" tyres were a lot cheaper and most other Polos with these 15" VW alloys seemed to be fitted with "50" tyres. That car had "55" tyres fitted from factory and we bought it new.
