Turbo spotting?

Hello, New on ere and new to Turbo so go easy...

Just bought a 2001 cupra, its got an AUQ engine which I know from post on ere usually comes with K03s turbo, however I am told its got an upgrade a stage 2?? so.. it could be hybrid K03s or a K04 (highly unlikely I know) is there anyway of telling with out removing it?

Also, does anyone know of a Technical manual for these cars as I plan to get my hands greasy over the winter.

Stage 2 would refer to the level of remapping, not the turbo - which will be K03S.

Haynes manual for Golf Mk4 has virtually everything you need to know in it.

I'm sure if it was, the vendor would have gone to great pains to tell you exactly that.

There aren't that many hybrids fitted.

well person I bought it from new nothing, I got bits and bats of info from previous owner who got it off his mate ..who had modded the turbo...

most likely its a std turbo and the stage 2 relates to mapping done on it

not a clue, have found out via trickery of the camera phone in tight spaces via blue tag on turbo its just std k03s. Oh well still happy though, maybe it has got stage 2 map, how can you find out though?
