Turbo bearings

My FR 20VT started making a light rattling sound on acceleration recently at 21000 miles. I thought it might be the well known loose manifold bolts problem but no. It gradually became louder until it sounded like the car had no silencer.

I got the car back from the dealer today and was told it was the turbo bearings. It seems to be sorted now, fortunately there was one week left on the warranty.

Is there a known issue with the bearings?

not read anything or been told anything about that manifold bolt would have been my first guess like yours i think the turbo has a floating bearing ( excuse me if i am wrong ) and know the turbo veins can hit the wall of the housing as there is a bit of play didnt they say what could have caused it, like oil starvation or not letting it cool down properly. id ask then and see what they say so you can prevent this happening again if its something your doing worng!

The rattling noise has returned and the car is back with the dealer.
Either they didn't spot what was really wrong or the new bearings only lasted a few weeks... :(

next time anyone goes to dealers with this problem they should take print outs just to show the dealers this problem!!!! and they should check the bolts when checking the turbo least you have new turbo lol
