Cheers dude :)

Paying out £420 to add £250-£300 to the resale value of the car doesn't stack up, plus I get it sooner :)

The difference may well be nearer £500 according to guides simply due to 10 plate being the first of the new decade so come selling time an 10 10 will be more desirable than a 10 59.

I thought Seat had done a VAT freeze due to delivery delays be interesting to know what the actual guidelines are and what a "reasonable time" was?

You raise a good point, £500 is a fair amount, but when you're looking at losing around 10k over 3 years in depreciation alone, the difference is still around £100 after paying the extra VAT. This works out at a saving of 0.01% of the total depreciation, although it might make more difference in the longer term, as you say a 59 reg will 'sound' older because it was from the last decade. I still think my 02 reg sounds pretty current until I stop and think about it :)

From what I can gather from the dealer and the documents I got from the broker, a reasonable time is 2 weeks, there must be a bit of wiggle room though.

I ordered my FL leon FRcr 170, in July 09 should have arrived second week in september, i got it on the last week of october :censored:, never really got a satisfactory explanation as to why the car was so late other than lack of stock and a large demand for this modle.
Did get another 500 quid off the price though and free mats, so not all bad i guess. :)

In some ways the delay could do me a favour but at the same time the sooner I take delivery the better as I save around £80 per month on fuel, by changing to diesel on the new one. Swings and roundabouts! :)

Rich, my dealer confirmed car has been built and is on route! What i would say is that the dealer pointed out that the scrappage must be used within 4 months of the order date. I would be speaking to your dealer tomorrow!

Thats interesting Robby...and congrats! Great news!
The last time I spoke to my dealer was Friday and he checked on his system which is the new live up to date version. No change apparently and he said he checks every morning. He asked me about whether I had renewed my tax disk (which I had obviously) as he had to renew the scrappage contract so I guess its in hand and nothing to worry about.
Have they given you a rough delivery date? i.e how long does the importing/checking/PDI/delivery take? Cheers

It took 7 days from when the car arrived at the uk port to the day i drove it away from the dealer, however i was told it can take up to 3 weeks for the car to get from port to dealer!

To be honest Rich I dont think the ordering system they use is accurate, I rang the our dealer last week to confirm a build date for 2 Leon FR's we ordered on 31.10.09. The dealer checked the system and there was no update present, got a phone call the same evening saying the cars had just turned up on the transporter

The dealer I have ordered through have been able to tell me what stage my car has been at since I ordered it. Seems a bit strange how the amount of information that people are getting varies so much with the same ordering system  unless it's not a very good system

Just as i thought all hope was lost i got a call to pick the car up yesterday!

Ordered Sept 30th - told 30th November - it supposedly arrived 30th December - finally got it 16th January!

I was beginning to lose interest (as the 10 plate is out in a month and a half!) but it was well worth the wait a cut above my golf in looks - thanks for all the info all!

I think your dealer was being a little too enthusiastic with availability date. New build is normally min 12 weeks from ordering. Mine will be 17 weeks this coming Friday. What have you gone for?
Be good to see some pics on here if you can...cheers
