Hi,

can anyone advise on a decent colour match for the colour of the standard alloy wheel that comes with the LC (see attached pic)

recently had weld added to the wheel and the wheel is back to the base metal around the repair area.

This question gets asked a lot and as of yet, nobody has an answer to it. I know some people have managed to mix their own paint (there was a thread this week with this in) and others have had to have the entire wheel refurbished.

Your best bet is to take it to a good wheel refurbishment company and they should be able to match the colour and paint the whole wheel to ensure a good match and finish.

i looked into the full refurb but they couldn't guarantee the colour match and didn't fancy having one entire wheel a different colour to the other 3. I don't mind one area of one wheel being slightly different in colour though.

would it need to be specialist paint or would hammerite or similar do the job do you reckon???

Hammerite might 'do a job' but you wont get a good match - unless by some extreme fluke the colour is the same as a standard LC wheel - and the finish wont be too good.

If you're happy to do that, you may as well find some paint from another car manufacturer that's a close match.

i might try my local seat dealer and ask if they do a touch up paint for the alloy wheel. doubt it, but worth a try i suppose.

i just want my polished lip wheels off as they are driving me mad. look good when clean but they never are for more than 5 mins!

I've heard that said before! If Seat do a touch up kit for the wheels, make sure you post back and let us all know as I think they will be getting a lot of business!

just off the phone to the dealership. Seat DO NOT do a touch up paint for the wheels.

back to the drawing board.

In that case you have a few options...

Full refub of the wheel... just find somebody who can get a good colour match if the first place you tried said they can't.
Full refurb of all wheels
Find similar coloured paint and DIY
Live with it

What it might be worth doing is buying some paint from another car manufacturer that looks similar. Test it on the wheel in an inconspicuous area first and if it's not right, go and find another colour. Once you have found the right colour, paint the wheel yourself. There are plenty of guides on the net about refurbishing alloy wheels yourself so you should be fine.

Right, i'm now on a mission to find any car with a similarly coloured wheel to the standard 17" seat leon cupra wheel,

if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Or better still if anyone has a colour code for the cupra wheel or for a similar wheel let me know.

I'll be the test pilot for it and let you know, provide before and after pics etc.

Look at car bodywork colours as well mate, not just wheel colours. In fact, have a wander round Halfords paint section :)
