Hi,

Has anyone used their own in house non switchable remap? Apart from the switch would it be much different to Revo?

Cheers,
Nick

Yes mate here is his email.....

Some people like the idea of being able to switch between the standard and the modified maps, but to be honest once the modified map is in the ECU there is no real reason to switch back to the original map (even the MPG is improved with the modified map). Our standard remap produces more power and torque than the REVO version and if you wish to carry out further modifications we can even take the power up to 210bhp on the standard turbo and injectors but if these are replaced 230-240bhp is possible.

We are able to offer you our own remap for your car which will take the power from 150bhp to 195bhp and increase the torque from 320Nm to 420Nm, this will not only improve the performance but you can also get better MPG (when compared with like for like driving conditions we get an extra 50-60miles per a tank-full).

All our remaps are fully tested and written by ourselves; our remaps respect all emission regulations and increased power and torque is well within the design limits of the engine and transmission. The remap is invisible to all VAG diagnostic equipment and involves no physical changes to the vehicle and providing your car is serviced at the correct intervals and good quality oil is used there will be no issues at all.

We carry out work for various main agents (we currently carry out work for 3 SEAT dealers) and independent dealers as well as the retail work we do; we are pleased to say that we have never had an unhappy custom and you will be very pleased with the results as these engines respond very well to remapping.

Prior to carrying out the work we carry out a full diagnostic check on the car to ensure that everything is in order; we have over 20yrs background is in diagnostic work so any potential problems can be quickly diagnosed.

The cost of the remap is £450+vat and will take between 2-3hrs to carry out the work at our base in Cambridge, we also offer a mobile installation service; please contact us and we can give you a quotation.

There is only so much you can do with a simple remap, and as long as you know what you are doing you are only going to get the same results as all the other mapping/chipping companys! It's not as if this guys maps are alot cheaper either!

Hi,

Thanks for you advice. Darrrell from Torqing bhp says that their own remap is completely invisible also unlike the revo which is traceable in the event of an accident?

Your spot on!!

All maps available from companies like revo and similar these days are coming up with virtually the same results!
but should we (the customer) be worried about reliability of the stock turbo i.e 150 pd 130 pd were not desinged to run at 195/200 hp higher boost pressures etc. many people want to have the great 200 hp figure and yes you can have the same economy or even an improvment ! but at what cost !!!!!

This guy must be joking No?
Both maps are traceable if you do a full code read. How can you get any improvement without changing factory set values? you can't!!
True diagnostics equipment won't pick it up, but what if the dealer goes for a ride to check that suspension noise, or rattle you mentioned when going in?

Besides are you going to trust your car to someone who does 3-10 maps a month or someone who sells and backs up a dealer network which probably does 80-100 cars a month?

HI,

Thanks for all of your posts it is spot on advice cheers.

I have also been talking to the guy from jabbasport who has a remap for £420 taking it to either 190-200bhp.

I asked him about weather the standard engine / brakes / gearbox / clutch and even the turbo would be ok at 325 torque and he said yes but anything more would require uprated bits.

What do you recon?

Who does that statement refer to ;)

All remaps are traceable as PRC has mentioned. With the case of EDC15 type ECU you dont even have to read the full code. A diagnostic tool will give you a checksum calculation if you know where to look and whet to compare it to. Some UK dealers have now worked this out and are questioning warranty repars against modified ECU cars.

also...stock clutch will be a problem on anything above stock torque figures depending upon your driving.
eg...

Paulo 150ishpd Leon intergallactic mileage on stock clutch
RichardBW 150ishPD Leon 20k and slipping stock clutch

This is an extremely good point here.
you can run over 200hp and 300lb/ft torque, but your turbo's life will be reduced by more than 50%. Remember that there are other things suffering as well.
