top speed?

I also found to my slight surprise that my new sat nav consistently disagrees with the speedo by about 6mph (although I've not done any crazy speeds with it). I assume it's the overall wheel size which is slightly smaller than the speedo was designed for. They stick all kinds of different wheel sizes on these cars, I assume they keep the speedo technology the same hence the differences.

my ibiza when on std size wheels would read 10% of reading error... the faster you went the more it read wrong (optomistic)
GPS nowdays is spot on with it, but runs bigger wheels than std..

Faulty speedo on mine tho as it does'nt read properly >160mph... the silly buggers forgot to write the numbers beyond there

ive got a little speedo that runs off my wheel thats bang on, also does 0-60, 0-100, 1/4 mile 100-0 top speed etc etc, used on learner cars usually.

thats it in the middle little green thing lol

Im doing about 100 is about 93.5 etc

thanks for all the info guys! you just assume the speedo is always rite i supose. at the end of the day ur neva gona use top end are u its bottom end that counts really i best get the airfilter changed then!!!

so dont believe ur speedos..

also i lost about 6-8mph since i fittied a cupra front splitter!!

you might find that the air pipe was being squished with pressure therefore restricting the amount of air because it was sucking so much, or plain and simply heat soak depending on cooling to it...

145 on the speedo is probably actually about 125

i found the speedo,s to be pretty spot on! my old car off the clock pointing to 165/170ish was 164 on a sat nav!
