has anyone ever considered a top mount intercooler and bonnet scoop for the lcr? would it work? does anyone make one? would it even fit under the bonnet?

i have a feeling the answer is no on all four counts.

Unlike a Subaru, the engine in a LCR won't lend itself to an intercooler of that design. As the engine is quite tall in the LCR as its a straightforward 4 piston design, a Subaru's is a boxer design so the pistons are layed out horizontally to meaning its wider and less tall so above the engine can accomidate that type of intercooler.
A good front mounted intercooler will do a better job as it gets better airflow.

Heat rises so a TMIC is always suffering hence most of the tuned GTI-R cars move them to the front.

You'd need to make the bonnet a fair bit higher too, as there isn't a great deal of room between the top of the engine and the underside of the bonnet. Plus you'd have to make the IC easily removable, just in case you need to top up your oil, change a spark or coil pack or do anything else that requires access to the top of your engine.
