For those with LC who have the rough idle, I seem to have found a solution (for my car anyway)

I tried Shell optimax, octane booster, grounding kit, maf change, air-filter replacement, coolant sensor change.....

But, for the first time ever this week I put BP Ultimate (97ron) petrol in. It has fixed the idling "wobble" TOTALLY.

My car used to dip up and down when idling, sounding like it almost stalled. I thought it was supermarket sh*te petrol. So tried optimax - no improvement. But this BP stuff seems to have fixed it!

Worth a try if yours does it too.....

n1 pabs, ill give that stuff a go when im next passing. Wasnt the super unleaded? just the std Unleaded they do?

Mine ran terrible on optimax, usually put texaco or esso in it. 95 ron at that.

Great timing Pabs - my LC has just started this in last week or so and I've been trawling the seach engine here to get a clue so I could try and DIY it - if BP works great. I found mention of the idle stabilisation valve just needs cleaning - did you try this and where is it!!!!!

Thanks again.

I will have to give it a go. Its just so expensive though compared with other superunleaded. Maybe its something to do with a build up of carbon in the engine and the additives in BP are better at shifting it the optimax?

yeh, where i filled up said 97ron too.
I also had the throttle body cleaned by my dealer, but didnt seem to do anything.
Indeed, BP ultimate was about 8p/litre more expensive, but thought there might be a reason for it.
Will revert back to cheapish stuff next fill-up and see if it comes back!

mine seems to just idle quicker when stationary

mine seems to just idle quicker when stationary, not all the time but enough to be annoying. normal idle is about 850 top limit. but it goes up some times to 1200. The only way to stop it, it seems is to put your foot under the pedal and lift it, that seems to stop it. So anyone with any idea what might be the cause, i've looked at other threads which suggest either - idle stabilisation valve, duff throttle potentiometer, MAF sensor, type of petrol used (i've used BP standard unleaded & shell & tesco's, Sainsbury's) none of which seem to make a blind bit of difference.

But which is the most likely of these???.

mine does exactly the same. However when i rev it a little bit it goes away:confused: First thing i thought it was is the battery as it seemed it was when i had electrics on but its not that so thats ruled out :) I mean im no mechanic but could it be the altenator?

i used BP ultimate prior to getting REVO (which is mapped for optimax/V-power i beleive?) and found it to be excellent, smoother idle, good MPG etc. I was very impressed with Ultimate - It was quite pricey though.

I've been using V-Power since the remap and the idle is certainly lumpier. and the MPG is not great (but then again car is remapped). I did however get my best ever mileage from a full tank last week - 365mpg! I drove like a pensioner though.

Was thinking lately of using BP ultimate again but I'm not sure if there will be any issues if the car is mapped for optimax/V-power???. I'm not sure if it has to be specifically Vpower you use or any 98ron petrol and i'm sure BP Ultimate is 97 ron.

I'm actually using Sainsbury's Super Unleaded at the moment - and my MPG is fantastic. :)

I get around 380 miles to a tank of petrol now.... which i think is superb!
