Tinkling/metallic rattling sound under acceleration and hard gear change

I think its coming from underneath the car as it sounds worse when there's a sound barrier like parked cars or the barriers on dual carriageways.

So basically when i put my foot down to accelerate, I can hear a slight metallic rattling noise, almost a clicking type sound. Also, and I'm not sure if its related, when gently pressing the accelerator pedal to rev, there's a split second delay where i can hear a "ttcchhh" sound before the noise of the engine.

Additionally, if I put the car into any gear when driving or stationary heavy, there's a distinct metal rattle there too. Could it be linked?

I'm thinking maybe loose heat-shield or similar?

Seat Leon 1.4 TSi 2009 Manual.

Thanks for any help.

mate it's the gearbox, mines done this from new and still 3 years on. it's a trait of the 1.4 tsi manual I'm afraid.

it's been to the dealers about it but what dealer can't see, dealer can't fix

just one small unrefined blemish on an otherwise brilliant engine.

one way of getting rid of the sound is give it some beans, only really happens at normal low rev driving.
