Timing Belt - change now or risk it another while

I've got a 98 1.4 with close to 90k miles on the clock... there was no proper service history when I bought the car about 4 months ago, and a mechanic who recently serviced it said it doesn't look like the timing belt has ever been changed.

I think the recommended mark is about 60,000 miles for such an engine, if I recall correctly. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with such things... am I running a big risk not getting it changed or should it chug along for another while?

The thing is I'm thinking of selling the car in the new year for a slight upgrade, so obviously it's a bit of a gamble carrying on like this. I only drive about 200 miles per week on average. I don't want to destroy in the engine in the mean time, but at the same time I'm not too keen on forking out a wad of cash for the job...

a dilly of a pickle! Any thoughts welcome
