Yup... car's for sale :(

Going to be buying a house soon so have to be all grown up and sensible. How crap. Will be damn upset at seeing my car go as it's bloody superb! So I really hope it stays on the forum and goes to a good home. But things change so it does have to go.

If anybody is looking for an LCR, get in touch! I'm selling it with all mods on to start with and if not sold in a month, I'll strip and sell parts separately. Anybody who asks for first dibs on anything will be told to f*** off until then :) ;)

Sad day. Sad, sad day :(

So what are you thinking of getting instead?

Good luck with the sale.

It's always best to invest in a house, the prices seems to be going through the roof nowadays.

Sadly there is too much money tied up in the car to justify keeping it... especially since £130k is the starting price for crappy houses in this area at the moment.

Me and the Mrs' are both selling our cars (anybody want a Puma Millennium?) and will probably buy something like a Citroen Xsara VTS next. For £2k you get 160ish bhp, reasonable handling, electric everything, climate control and everything else you need. Same setup as the Pug 306 GTi-6 so it's a pretty good car :) Nothing compared to the LCR though :(

Wow im so shocked to hear that but i totally understand being an estate agent. It is definately the time to buy especially with the house and mortgage rates going up which will keep doing so.

I havent been on this site long but definately long enough to realise you have been a great help to many people on this site and you clearly know your stuff!

Please do stick around to help those in need like me:D

Good luck selling her if only it were black i may have got it for myself

bloody hell rob what you going to do about your post count lol

well to be honest you'd prob get more money if you stripped bits and sold them seperatley, and if you need to change to standard parts ask the people who want to buy your bits so you can change uprated for standard

its a shame isnt it but yellow is a problem lets face it thats the truth isnt it? you realised yellow is last season!! haha

Rob - you still coming to the RR day in Sept???

And that, i'm afraid to say, is a feeble excuse. I've just paid circa £200k for a 2-bed house - and I'm keeping my LC!!!!

Don't do it mate! You'll regret it :(

Cheers all! :)

Pabs - Can you put me down as doubtful for the RR day. If I still have the car I'll be there, but if somebody else wants my place then please give it to them. Once I know more about what's going on I'll let you know.

p1tse - Good to hear from you bud! :D You're right though, there is a lot of fun to be had in the sub-£2k bracket. I want to spend as little as possible though I think, so the Xsara might be out of it. I'm thinking of spending just a grand or so and only keeping it for 6 months, just until I'm settled and know where I am financially.

So... if anybody knows of anyone looking for a LCR... ;)

C'mon Rob, I bought my house with my misses a year past in December there and bought the LCR in Feb this year, you can afford it mate, trust me - keep it!

Couple of my mates have cheaper cars that are like what your getting,
fair enough they are cheap and fast(ish) but theres a reason they are cheaper!

But hey mate! Its hard to say bye bye! But its only the car thats going tho!

Sorry to see you go Rob,

And i hate to be a wet blanket, but speaking from experience as i was very nearly forced to sell my 20VT at the beginning of this year, and having looked a lot of sub 2k motors, i can tell you BCM is right there is a reason why they are only 2K..

But if you gotta sell, then you gotta sell & good luck, if it means you can get on the property ladder, then it'll be worth while, cos it's getting harder and harder to do these days, my mortgage has gone up almost £200 in the last few months....

This is a sensible decision, not a decision to get myself a new car because I want a change from the Leon. I'm not expecting anything fantastic, I just want as little money as possible tied up in a car and as fewer running costs as possible.

Thinking about a Mk6 Escort GTi now. I like the look and drive and despite them being slow, it's not a bad motor to plod around in. But they only cost a grand to buy and sod all to run, insure and maintain. That means every penny I have can go towards getting the best house and bits and bobs for that.

Then, in a 6 months or a year, I'll think about getting a better car.

The main priority now though is buying a home, which to me is more important than bragging rights about how powerful my car is, or more important than being able to be faster than somebody on the way home from work.

I'm sure, when I'm sat in my own living room in my own house, the decision will have been worth it. And then, if I can afford one, I can get another LCR :D
