Fair enough want better traction on the front for straight line races, but whats the point if you cant enjoy the car at all in the twisties and have to hold up grannies in micra's going round wet corners..

I hate driving my LCR in the wet due to the rubbish tyres actually feel angry at how bad they are going round the corners.

The falkens are supposed to be pretty good so you have enough to get all 4 done and also have money for the arb. Get the dog bone mount changed aswell if you havn't done so to try help with traction a little more.

yeah thats an idea. but if falkens are capable,im going for 4 of them, thats within my budget :)

and yeah im upgrading all my bushes before the anti roll bar, the dogbone mount is on my list too, but i hear there are more engine mounts that could help,is that true?or just the single dog bone mount?

There are 3 mount including the dog bone mount, ths actually do a kit and do a discount code for us saving about £69 off the price. I dont know if they will help as much as the dog bone mount as thats the main one reducing the engine movement.

I just fitted there dog bone mount and has reduced engine movement alot. No rattle in the cabin either. :)

Hard luck mate, its things like this that make you learn though, and its shocking how many people they con.
Just looking on a site like this before you actually do anything can save you alot of money and also helps your knowledge as someone has more than likely done it before you.

I am just trying to find a decent tyre fitting place the now so ringing round garages to see what quotes I get.

The best garages I've found through www.mytyres.co.uk and go to local fitting centres.
They will usually price match the web site

I bet you guys are reading this thinking :wtf:
but its just a thought...
Dont kill me people!!

Im going to get Michelin PS2s for the front 2 wheels of my car, and due to current financial restrictions,i was considering budget tyres for the back 2 wheels which are more than half price of the michelins.

I know i need grip on the front, but is it terribly important to have the best of the best on the back too? il be hitting the drag strip often, shredding my front tyres. and usually just street driving.

will i get away with 2 budges on the back?

and how about track use?i know i will burn through my tyres but are budget ones bad news if you want to hit the track?

thanks

Shame its an old thread as I have 4x Mitchelin Pilot Sports in my shed with 2x5mm and 2x6mm in very good condition.

Back from the dead
Keep in mind we are approaching the time of year when the weather is going to throw its worst at us.

Standing water, frost, ice, potentially snow may be coming.

New tyres are often cheaper than a crash, a rise in insurance premium, or at worst a life.

Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, fit the best rubber at the back, jobs a good 'un.

I know 1 or 2 people using these, and they swear by them, and a reasonable price to.

Plus, they look cool.

Well worth considering from what I've heard

That would be me mike?! Vredestein are awesome tyres, especially in the wet. Progress can be made in any conditions with these tyres knowing they WILL grip!

After a little thought, I reckon the advice to put new tyres on the back and swap the part-worns to the front is beacause most drivers find understeer easier to control than oversteer. Not that either of them is good news, but opposite-locking isn't always the obvious way out of a sudden skid.

Be that as it may, always buy the best tyres you can.

Improving your engine and braking performance is pointless if it can only be translated into wheelspin or skidding.

Suspension geometry changes are all about making sure that your tyres stay in contact with the road. Crap tyres make them pointless.
