Thinking about selling IHI

I'm thinking about selling my 363bhp IHI car

I've always liked my fast car's and this thing is an animal like no other car i've been in. The responsivness is unreal and top end is still goo even on a low ratio box. I'm surprised i still have my licence at times

I'm thinking about getting a Golf Gti TDI as an economical day to day car and then will get possibly a GT2, TVR Sagaris Skyline etc as my garaged toy

I've been thinking about keeping the Seat as my everyday car, i can still get 300 miles to a tank comfortably. However i am moving in with my missus soon and she will be using the car  and i'm worried she will floor it by accident and the thing will torque steer off the road  and i will have no car and no missus left lol which isn't a good thing...

So what to do?? Am i being silly as i can have a nice everyday car (seat) which i can still drive sensibly and also wipe the floor with most cars + a 500bhp monster in the garage. Or get something silly like a Golf diesel?!

I've had to shell out a couple of grand on putting the seat back to tip top condition, it needs a new manifold and downpipe which have cracked and i have upgraded the brakes to AP setup from Bill with carbon pads (which are possibly one of the best setups ive ever used) and fitted some nice 16@ OZ super T's.

I'm not going to sell the car for silly money but if somebody wants to drop me a pm if they are interested i'll happily talk.

Although secretly i'm hoping no-one will offer me money and you'll tell me how **** the golf is and i should stick with the Seat [B)]

Help

And sorry if i make no sense have been at work 12 hours and i'm stressed and tired and pissed off [:@]

How has it been in terms of reliability? You mentioned youve had to shell out a couple of grand to get it right, and you need to sort more things. If it were me, I wouldn't want to be spending loads of money on my "everyday" car, Id want to be spending it on my fun beast! IMO, id sell the Ibiza, get something reliable, economical and practical for your mrs, then get something bonkers for yourself! Sagaris springs to mind :D
That way, you wouldn't be worrying about her, you shouldnt be worrying about paying loads of cash to keep the car running and you could direct your interests to the fun car!
Just my 2p's worth, good position to be in though :)

How the HELL do you get 300miles to a tank in an IHI? Do you ever drive over 1500rpm?!!?

I get 240miles to a tank in mine with the spec below when I'm doddling around, and it drops below 200 when she's getting serious abuse!!

I guess it's time to take that 10 tonne lead weight off the right foot!!!!!

i used to get 200 from the Impreza overall, 250 on eco-drive!!
i once got 175 miles from a tank from my rover 220 turbe, but that was on the limiter for an hour!!!!!

Coz most of the time you drive off boost on a IHI, so you dont use as much juice. Which is another reason to get it done....

Personally i'd keep the Ibiza and teach the missus how to drive it.

Reliability wise it has been the most reliable car i've owned :D

The only problem i've had is with the manifold and downpipe cracking - which are both aftermarket parts - and i'm not the only person who's had these problems.

All other bits have been upgrades, the AP disc setup, also got the vibratechnics engine mounts etc.

300 miles to a tank is easy, and that includes quite a lot of right foot action ;)

Admitedly i average about 250 miles to a tank, but that does include a lot of fast road driving. 300 is easy to attain with normal every day driving and have never seen less than 200 miles with a lot of hard driving :D

Also just to add my car hits full boost approx 2700rpm so it hardly ever spends its life off boost ;)

So, you want to sell the beeza, get a TDI, which is safer for the missus, and then a 500hp monster for you to play now and then ?

Maybe I don't get the full picture, but why don't you just get a 2nd hand TDI for the missus and you and keep the beeza for the fun ?

Because i don't want a ibiza as my fast car, simple as. I want to experience more cars, plus i want to buy a car that is fast standard, not tuned.

I could drive a 360bhp ibiza all my life but i'd rather have fun and switch in between other cars

id say get the diesel golf and keep the beeza as the beast and go to town on it. your not going to get what the car is worth if you sell it, and if you want to drive other cars hire them or track day one

Sell the Ibiza. At the end of the day regardless of how far you take it it will always (unless you go uber big!) be a fwd car and therefore have it's limits. Get yourself a big power as standard rwd. Personal choice would be a TVR.
