:censored: Last night unfortunately I was mugged and had my keys and driving license taken,
I have moved the car from my property with the spare key. I need to know what to do about getting a new one. Can I just ask the dealer to cut another one and change the remote codes and immobiliser freq, to stop someone starting the car.
I know it won’t prevent someone getting in but I fear the costs of new barrels/ignition/glove box will be very expensive.
If any one can help please let me know if the best route is the dealer or a third party company.

Thanks

Sorry to hear about this.

It may be easier to go to the dealer and get a new key, I do not think that you can get one cut by a locksmith and the new key will need to be coded to the immobiliser which only the dealer can do. From memory it's about £150 for a remote control key and around £90 for a non remote key, with our local dealer that included the immobilser coding as well.

Sorry to hear that, why not get it delocked as then you wont have to worry about the car getting stolen. Additionally your insurance might cover you for this type of incident however due to the possible access and higher premium next year it might not be worth claiming.

i think the goverment should compensate anyone that goes through this like material value (not emotional) something like this cos end of the day we pay money to be protected and we ain't!

well thanks for the advise, after a call to the dealer it's gonna cost £190+VAT, :( It seems the insurance don't want to know unless I coff up the £100 excess, and will take days. Thanks for your consern i'm Ok just really :censored: off about the costs, had my house keys, phone and driving liensence.

I had my last clio delocked after someone broke the locks off that when the alarm went off, however I feel the costs is far more then doing this.

Hi. Not sure if thats true about needing a deal to re-programme a key, I found instructions for re-programming keys in my Ibiza Cupra handbook.
