Ok, Picked up the washers today and theres good news and bad news.
Good news: They are the fan type :D
Bad news: They are nearly twice as tall as the original ones (not enough clearance under the bonnet) and a fair bit longer, so this has set me a new challenge ;)
Looks like the scuttle panel will have to come off and some DIY modding will be needed.
Will post pics of the new ones and some comparison pics of the old ones when i get home tonight.
If anyone is still wanting to do this, the part number is confirmed as:
6E 0955985B From VW and total cost for 2 is £3.74 plus VAT, but don't forget they reccomend you use the VAG screen wash at £1.96 a bottle.
Total inc VAT was £6.70.

I wonder if all the model washer jets are as tall, say for a polo etc.. Not sure if they have the fan type as well but knowing VAG they would have kept some parts universal to cut costs.

I got a bottle of screen wash for free after a service. What's so special about the VAG stuff than say the halfords own or other types?.

I had a wander around the forecourt before buying, and checked the washers on most cars. All of them seemed to share the same ones i've just bought.

I have no idea on the difference between the screen wash, but it says it should be used with all VAG Fan washers, so i'm going to use it just to save the hassle of replacing them in the future.
I've a feeling this job may take some effort, but will be worth it.
Hopefully start it tomorrow, otherwise it will wait till saturday.

What about other new cars, Fiat Puntos etc etc ... do they not have spray patterns and smaller jets ?

Possibly.
I bought the Golf ones as they looked somewhere near the right width, however i was unable to view one properly without ordering it first, so now i have them i will make them work.
People are welcome to try an alternative and let us all know, in the meantime i'll do my best with these.

The screen wash is down to the amount of alcohol and additives apparently. Cheapo halfords stuff can clog the pipes and harden the rubber on your wipers.

Right, heres a few pics for you all to compare and judge for yourself.
Bear in mind the original washers are a snug fit in the scuttle panel, so the new ones are going to make fitting a little awkward, but i hope to sort this tomorrow depending on weather.

I did plug them in to see how they sprayed, and they are perfect for what we are all looking for. No idea why SEAT couldn't do this in the first place.

Keeping us down at the bottom of the VAG pile
Who give a **** we'll mod our cars to the way they should have been made and stick two finger up to Audis, and perhaps overtake a few of them;)

Surprisingly my mates A3 doesn't have them either. VW seem to be more likely to have them, but SEAT are having a DIY revolution...... ;)

I've a feeling this mod won't be for you then.
The scuttle panel will need the holes enlarging to begin with, and i may need to fabricate some type of bracket to mount them below the level of the panel to give clearance for the bonnet.
