That gearbox blows. Test drove one last week and I hated that dsg malarky. Looks like some reviewers agree with me.

when you got people like Plato, Ivan muller and even clarkson saying the dsg 7spd is a good box and is one of the only ones that work, im inclined to listen to them. Always was a sceptic of auto boxes but I may change my mind here. Still waitin 4 my go in edhornys boc

I personally like the box. Vicky not accessing the box correctly when she says the car doesn't need 7 gears. The 7th gear is like an overdrive. You don’t use it for everyday fast driving. It’s used in DRIVE mode for good fuel economy. It’s a bonus not a drawback. On the lanes you'll use 3rd to 4th and sometimes 5th in manual. In spot mode I don’t think it even changes into 7th.

I don’t like sport mode though. But.. I haven't spent much time with the box.

Although, yes i agree with them that the gearbox is too much for a track day, its still a lovely one to drive with day to day, when i drove the FR at my dealership it was so smooth, couldnt hardly notice the changes. They talk about it changing up too early in manual mode but i bet the car they had was brand new so the gearbox hasn't learnt what driving style to adopt. everyone is going to have there own opionion and mine is i like it

Thats my opinion anyway, whats everybody elses?

I wonder if they actually stuck it in manual mode though. When I gave the FR a blast in manual mode it never changed up before I manually changed. I doubt its going to pull to the redline anyway!

For an everyday road car its great. I think it will work well on the twisties as well. TBH I very much doubt I will ever take the car on track.

What’s strange is the video's and a different review I read demonstrated that the car WAS good on track?? Go figure? (Its the review in the independant).

Also read the forum posts following the AutoCar review. Its quite funny one guy has a proper go at the review.

The thing is though while driving, I enjoy changing gear. A manual box should be an option.

Its not just the dash for me though. I do like the 197 looks but the 200 ew the front end in horrible. Only way that could work is in black!

while waiting for my SC i went in to sign some boring documents and the boc was outside in dakota red, so i was cheeky and asked if i could have a quick spin, and to my delight he said yes, loved the car the look and the feel of the drive but i was a bit dissapointed with the DSG, wasnt to my liking, i guess some people just have there preferences

overall though, my god that thing flys, awsome job by seat in my opinion, just wish i was old enough so the insurance company didnt laugh in my face when i tried to insure it haha, guess ill just have to wait

EDIT: manual should be an option, i feel more at one with the car when i have to change gears myself, either that or i would need to find something else to do with my left hand haha

Which dealership is this mate? I've ordered a Boc but not driven one. If its in Warrington i'd definatly drive over so I could take it for a spin.

it was the IMG in warrington, i didnt see it there when i picked mine up on friday, so it may have gone, i am going tomorrow morning to ask about my ESP so ill check if its there for you as im only 5 mins away from it, waste of time you driving here if its not there
