TFSI tuning

Has ne1 fitted a Carbonio intake on there leon tfsi sport? has it made ne difference in throttle response or noise?
also has ne1 fitted the forge blow off valve? :hide: ne probs wiv the car stalling or nethin?
i presume both of those things will fit on the leon as there both availiable 4 the golf V gti

Ive fitted a neuspeed intake from Awesome GTI. It makes a noticable noise, which you may or may not lke. quite wooshy like the 1.8T with dump vavles.
I tobviously sucks alot more air in through a long pipe somakes a noise. not too sure on throttle response though.

is the neuspeed an open cone filter? easy to fit?

It uses an oil based K&N cone filter. fitting took me about an hour. medium differcaulty.
You obviously have to rmove the enigne cover as well as thats in the way. I think there are instructions on the neuspeed site.

I seem to remember Richard from Forge telling me they'd tried out something similar to that induction kit on their Golf Gti and the outcome was it lost about 30hp :lol: (this was on a remapped car btw)

These filters can work well, but do need their own air flow to keep temps down. Dan, if your filter isn't boxed in, or have a direct air flow from a cool source then when the engine bay temps get hot it will actually have a detremental effect and perform worse than the standard one.

Cool intake temp is critical for performance as hot air carries much less oxygen. I've run a couple of competition cars in my time and when temperatures rise it makes a big difference if the open cone filters are not sheilded from the heat radiating from the engine.
The best compromise are the enclosed cone type filters, which have a "in" and "out" They contain the same type of filter but are completely enclosed like the production one.

As I've said many times before the airbox on the Mk5 Golf platforms does seem a good design with dedicated cold feed from the top of the grill, so not sure if what you've got pulling warm air from the engine compartment is going to improve anything.

Dan, don't get me wrong induction kits are great for improving the sound of the engine, I must confess i have a closed system fitted to my Elise, purely because it transforms the sound of the car :)

Induction kits used to free up horsepower in badly designed manufacturer systems which had all the compromises of one design for hot & cold climates or dusty countries.

Yes, I wasnt disproving you, just interested to see what difference it makes, in terms of the intake temps. :)

Anyway, the noise is great, so i'd forgo a few hp is nessecry :D its fast enough lol!

the noise difference is great isn't it :) I feel like a big kid sometimes in the Elise when I get the induction roar at about 6000 revs :) :)

I'm thinking about getting the same induction kit, you said its medium difficult. Can you get to everything topside without going under the car. Is it a case of just removing and then refitting.
I'm also thinking about remapping with a bluefin update(Superchips), what effect does the induction kit have on the update.
Sorry a real novice at this, but thanks for all your help

In our tests we stuggled at first to improve on the original air box , the in the engine compartment desin resulted in a loos of power , the large heat shiled helped ..we then went to the longer piping with the airflow directly in on the filter , this worked , we picked up 5 - 8 bhp , that was over 6 runs , we figured on a standard car this was ok , so the Forge is a true cold air intake and it works , I would be sceptical of any claims of 15bhp etc , optimistic to say the least

Very nice looking intake that....any chance of a very special SCN member price?;).... you dont ask you dont get lol

Forge, is it really a true cold air intake as from the picture it looks as if the filter is located in the engine bay????
