ok hi guys, ive only just joined the site s i only bought my leon a week ago. its a 1.8 20VT cupra already had it remapped to 225bhp and had a powerflow cat-back system fitted.
i have read about the temp warning light flashing in the mornings and i got that problem the other day, but i also now have another problem. When ever i get on to the motorway and hold the rev's over 2500rpm, the temp gauge starts to go up and if i carry on driving would carry on right up to 120 where the warning sounds. but when the engine is left to tick-over the guage goes back down to 90.
its a pain because the only way for me 2 get to work is 2 junctions down the motorway.

have any of you ever heard of this problem before?

coolant level has been checked with engine both warm+cold and was fine.

true true but i bet my bottom dollar its water pump esp if its rising that quickly whilst going over 2500rpm, also get them to fit the metal impellor much better than the basic plastic one they fit!!

and that you want the metal impellor, think there from GSF, if they say they cant guarantee the work with the brass impellor tell them fine just fit some of them are a pain!

ok it went in for diagnosis today and came back as a faulty temp sender. Apparently the pump is working fine, head gasket is fine, and there no signs of any loss of coolant. Just gotta find out which sensor it is now and get it ordered.

Its a total pain though, as the engine thinks its overheating it cuts loads of boost off, so its no go until its fixed.

Defo water pump mate, had the same problem myself. its a known problem with seat. the water pump should be changed every time the cam belt is changed in my apinion as the pump is only around £25 put will cost £300+ to fit!
