Hey EL,

Sorry to hear about your wing mirror! I had a 007p a few years back and the metal male connector that attaches to the vacuum hose snapped off; I had been trying to remove the vacuum hose and it simply snapped. The joint itself is delicate and i thought it was beyond repair. However, I bought a metal repair kit from Halfords. It's basically a two-part epoxy compound that you mix together and apply to the joint. It cures as a metal. I think it's called metal weld or something but I can check for you if you want.

Anyway, it cured after two hours and after 24 hours it was solid. The valve remained serviceable until I gave it to a friend and I replaced it with a Split-R.

If you can remove the metal pieces from the door and wing mirror, it might be worth having ago. I don't think the metal peice is the only structural piece within the mirror.

Thought this would help.

James.

Hi mate thanks for that, appreciate it. You just reminded me I have some JB weld which I got for my intercooler piping however ended up not using it as it wasn't needed. If you could still have a look for me mate for the one you are mentioning that would be ace. Going to look at the damage properly tomorrow as to be honest when you first see things like this you just get annoyed and want to ignore it

Where are you heading for the custom exhaust? I'm also in the market so perhaps we could book in the same day and negotiate a discount :)

+1 I'd be interested to know if they'd do a better price. I'm looking for 3" downpipe 200cel cat, 3"pipe work and oval tailpipe.

Broken Wing Mirror - Ordered

Big thanks to Sere Motors for helping me out with my broken mirror.

The mirror comes as the main body, glass and painted cap. I can re-use my glass and cap, so just ordered the body for £88.63 delivered. Just need to figure out how to take it apart and fit the new one

Glad to hear it wasn't hundreds to fix mate. Still, it's money you could have done without spending on repair because of some little d**k.

Hope it's all sorted soon.

Well managed to fix the broken wing mirror today with big help from my mate/boss Shah and a final touch from our very own 'Warren Fix It' :funk:

Very tedious job and one which you need to be careful not to break any of the clips. Door card came off, two screws at the bottom and two large screws which you need to take off the inside door handle to get to. Then it's a case of being brave enough to pull it apart without breaking anything. Next up you need to unclip the wires connecting the old mirror and finally it is off. Where my mirror glass and cover were fine to re-use we gently took these off the old unit and clipped them onto the new unit. After this it is a case of putting it all back by doing the reverse.

Can't express how relived I am to have my mirrors working again. Never realised how much I use them and how bloody annoying it is not to have them

I can imagine just how relieved you are mate.

It's a b**ch just how much damage an idiot can do. what could take weeks to fix takes seconds to break.

Thanks guys. Was looking at my tyres yesterday and seems I will need 4 new ones............woohoooo err I mean boo hoo :p I have Falkens on at the moment and I personally will not be getting them again. Fairly ok in the dry but awful in the wet. Time for some real tyres me thinks, especially with the power increase I am expecting real soon.

Been looking around and getting some opinions off people and so far the following tyres are on my list of options:
  • Continental Sport Contact 3
  • Michelin Pilot Sport 3
  • Toyo T1R
  • Yokohama Parada Spec 2
