Was considering swapping my MK2 FR TDI for a MK2 FR TSI.
My current car is 09 with 20k miles in speed blue.
The one I was looking at 07 40k miles, DSG and in silver (sorta common :( )
A big plus side is that the TSI is cheaper lol!

What would you guys do?

in what respects is the tsi cheaper? finance payments? i personally think it would be foolish chopping in for an older car with more miles. you will probably lose more money in the long run i am guessing? and the speed blue is a lovely colour as well :)

Yeah Finance. I was thinking this too, think its the dsg I like the idea of!
The blue is lovely and not so common!

I'm in he same boat, although the tsi I was looking at is 6 month newer on a 59 with the dsg and tricks, decisions decisions,

Parkers car guide has them both priced the same roughly without mileage correction and spec

Finance would be cheaper but what about insurance, tax, fuel. I was thinking of swaping mime for a impreza in the next year or 2 but did some verrrry rouph calcs in my head and i could get to like 220bhp so less than a scooby would cost insurance increase more tax awful mpg compared to mine plus with mine being 200-220 will still give good mpg.

Also as yours is a fr diesel and a facelift it will hold its value thus better investment imo. Look at the old leon fr 150 their way more than most lcr of same year. This is what i think about lol hope it sorta helps fella :)

Does the dsg box effect fuel consumption much compared to a manual?

I find my wife only gets 36 mpg on our fr diesel because she totals around in 4th rather than 5th , my theory is the dsg would always be in the optimum gear for efficiency so she'd get more like 40-45mpg around town.
Or does it not work like that?

Think I'd rather had the tsi over the tdi
