Hi

Since owning my 2l TDI FR (2007) it's been a giant pain in my erm... Pocket. Finally she's at a stage where she's not to bad although still under powered I believe as she has no guts low down.

I do about 32 miles each way to a from work mixture of A and B roads and I am struggling to get more than 37mpg out of her. If I'm really gentle at say 40 to 50 mph I can just stay above it. Surely as a diesel it should be doing this sort of figure easily.

I bought it for the mpg as my TT was thirsty and yet I only get 4 more mpg but no where near the performance. I'm guessing I bought a lemon.

Any idea or is this the expected life of a Leon owner?

It should be higher. Driving steady you should get over 50mpg.

Obvious stuff to try would he a full service, air fuel and oil filters etc..
Tyre pressures, brake calipers, check for boost leaks.
A bottle of Miller's diesel treatment to clean fuel system and injectors would be a good idea too

I had the same problem on my Audi and I would recommend putting forte diesel treatment in ( I think there is 4 different types ) and also what thirdlemon says a decent service , oil, air filter and especially fuel filter .

The forte stuff really works to regain lost power

Has it been mapped?? A **** map can smash through fuel like no-ones business.

Have you checked it's boosting correctly on VCDS?
