yep sounds like my problem alright, went idling round the roundabout in 3rd, then quickly shifted into 2nd and quick manaeourve which could have caused an impact on the MAF sensor.

If the dealer wont help me, where can u buy a MAF replacement then (ie cheaper than the dealer)

If the MAF is goosed like mine surely is, how long can i safely drive it, reason i ask, is that i cant get to the garage until Friday... The car is definitly starting to run worse, at idle , there is a significant amount of increased unhealthy engine noise.

Very strange thing happened, just coming off a roundabout today, slow moving, saw a gap, into second, strong accelerate, then a loud thud, loss of power, power returns, and the TCS light comes on. Pull over , check all ok under the bonnet, restart and the Diagnosis light comes on as well as TCS light.

Power delivery seems ok, just done a search and it looks like the MAF, problem is , car has only done 3500 miles and only just fitted RAM Air Induction Kit. Any suggestions ?

Dealer Fix or DIY FIx ?

AARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!

Mine has just gone and done this today lol!

Sorry to bring up an old post, but was there any results with this in the end?
Was it your MAF?

I too was coming off a roundabout (late for work) quite heavy with the right foot in 2nd gear, shifted up to 3rd, loud thud, car lost power, TCS light came on and then all was fine.
Pulled over, turned car off, looked under bonnet, turned on, and drove off, all was well except for the TCS light being on.

No loss of power and then the EML came on also.

Think I may need a new MAF too!

Car is a 2003 Cupra with 65k miles, AmD remap, pipercross panel filter and Forge DV.

Oh happy days,

Yes mate it was the MAF, i must of gone through about 5, and it was down to the RAM AIR induction kit, i changed back to the standard air box, which was smoothed out etc, and fitted a green panel filter... No problems occured since.
