Hi

I'm only just getting used to this car as Ive had it for less than a week - but it seems great. One thing I'm a bit unclear on is the boot lid. I can raise and close it with the key fob and by opening it by grabbing the "handle", and lose using the button on the tailgate.

The manual says there is also a button in the car, on the drivers door but I've been looking and can't see it. Where is it if exists :)

Feels like the manual. I'll have a look. Thought you were going to say virtual pedal. If that is fitted it's the dance where you approach the car from behind, foot underneath then step back. The step back is important but if it's not fitted with that. It's a side.

Hmm as you say the manual says button on the drivers door with an image but interesting again doesn't list it off as an option for opening or closing. One of three on that. It won't be the first time that manuals don't tally with the car.

Perhaps it was deemed a safety issue opening it from inside the car or the variation in having the door made with the button and one that didn't have an electric tailgate was too much. Report back if you find that button.

When I test drove the Tavascan I looked for the boot Open/Close button on the door but it was not there. I asked the sales guy and he said that you have to do it from the key.

That's a bit of a cop out since you never touch the Kessy remote. Stick it in your bag or whatever and never touch until service comes up when you hand the keys over. You'd have to keep it up the front of the car to do that. Normally the key gets tossed in the back of the car where Kessy happily picks it up (for me anyhow).

I reckon they forgot to spec it in the car where the power boot was fitted. The Ateca power boot button is fitted where a power boot is and the virtual peddle. The latter they have a habit of taking out of specs so you need to check that on Vag models.

its the same with some of the Formentors, the manual shows a button, funnily in the same spot as the Tavascan, but it doesn't come with the car. Not all have it. I would imagine to get the button you'd need to get the Endurance 6 spec car maybe?

I saw the button in Syphons pdf manual when looking at his Kessy issue. Cut and paste by their technical authors. Always reminds me of ICL manuals where the documentation doesn't tally with the way software / hardware performs. Blaim it on the technical authors.

The cars get specced by the local network. In this case Cupra / Seat, passed to the factory and get converted into build codes. That button will be on it as with or without. Then you expect the local representative ie. the UK network would check that the build codes tally with the advertised spec. In the past this is where the car gets misbuilt. My Ateca doesn't have a wireless charger, was built without since I specified a mib2 high. On the continent that combination was sold. Took a few months before Seat UK trapped that one. It was a mistake in the translation of the spec to build codes. That button could be the technical author going off on one.
