synta oil

Merry Christmas one and all. Washed the car recently and checked the oil, and noticed it was down, so I went to the handbook to see what to top it up with. Bad mistake, as it led on a wild goose (better than turkey!) chase full of 500 numbers and various unfinished arguments about the merits of different viscosities

So I have a simple question and am hoping for a simple answer: the dealer put in 4 litres of Synta oil in August, and the dipstick is just below the low point. Which brand/code oil should I buy to top it up with? A list of precise names would be nice in case the garage doesn't have one or the other...

well that's the thing, I have no idea what type it was. All I know is that it was 'Synta' 4 litres.

Does it have to be BOTH 500.00 and 505.00. Which *w-** numbers?

Grumble mumble :(

ok... where can Quantum oil be bought? From what I can see, it's only available at the dealers?
