Suspension & Koni Adjustables

I’m looking to get a new suspension set-up.

Probably Koni adjustables with Eibach Springs.

Has anyone got a similar setup (i.e.Koni SSK)? What do you think of them?

...or would I be better of getting some FK coilovers for a similar price?

I’m more interested in performance than 'looks' but obviously a nice ride height would be good.

Thanks

Hi Mate
Eibach springs and Koni dampers are a super set up for all the VAG range.
The dampers are adjustable so this means you can adjust the handling a bit.
I think when it comes to suspension , just dont go too cheap as I think you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the reply.

So would you say the koni/eibach set-up would be better than FK coilovers in terms of handling?

Also, could you give me a price for Koni adjustable dampers and Eibach springs please?

Thanks

I have the Koni Sport suspension kit (1130 rage) on mine which includes sports springs and adjustable damping for the front and back (not height adjustable). The ride is so much better now and the handling has also improved. Does not drop the car a huge amount (I did not want a huge drop) and is good value compared to a lot of other set-ups. For a non height adjustable kit it gives a good compromise on the ride/handling. A strut brace also makes a huge difference as well.

What have you got the damping set at? A 'stiff' setting etc?

I went for FK's on mine, due to them being height adjustable and also they were stainless steel, they cost me £400 all in, Handles amazin, ride is as comfortable as before and i managed to get the front and back even, as the back is higher on mk4's

Nope not adjustable damping and it lowers the ride height by about 25mm but stiffens the ride also! I have been very happy with the kit but I wanna go lower! If you would like it drop me an email sure! Only been on the car for about 3000miles so in tip top condition!

I recently took a Koni kit off a Leon (harsh) with Eibach springs

Fk coilies, and now it's lush & much better less stiffly sprung, so the wheel stays in contact with the ground now (what you want) rather than skipping about.

FK use koni dampers valved to their spec, so you're not skimping.

I currently have them on the softest setting all round. I did have the fronts on half way but have since got a strut brace which has made the front end stiffer (less bump absorbtion through the chassis), so i have now put the fronts on soft. Easy to change the fronts as they are top adjustable but the rears have to be taken off to be adjusted, although i think they are best left on soft all the time. The handling is so much more secure now as the rear suspension actualy moves now, so the rear stays planted rather than hopping and skipping all over the road (as per m0rk's reply regarding stiff suspension). The std set-up is far too stiff at the back with just the driver on board.
