Tony so you agree that tecnique is far more important than product and as you say above extreme results can be obtained with any polish but you prefer the look of swissol?

If so why do say in other threads that swissol is in a different class to megs and autogly when I've clearly demonstarted above its not?

As for the longetivity a selant such as AG EGP will chemically bond to the paint whereas as soft wax such as swissol will cure and in effect 'sit on top'. As for the 12 months + scenario why in other threads do you recommend (and imo sensibly so) that swissol is reapplied every 3 months?

Yes technique is very important like any other trade but my detailing experience using different products over the years is swissol is the best finish and protection ive cum across.

What percentage of carnauba does Megs contain?,Autoglym has around 5% compared to swissol onyx basic wax which has 30% which is where the deep shine and long lasting protection comes from.

As for applying more final wax after 3 months it will help it to last alot longer than a year and the more wax it gives a better protective shell,i have tested swissol on my cars for length of time it lasts and it defo lasts for longer than a year .

Brazo have you used and tested swissol yet ?if you havent you carnt judge it to others .

Tony autoglym doesn't contain any caranuba wax which is why it lasts so long its an acrylic sealant, caranuba is also a very cheap commodite btw. As for megs well the NXT is also a synthetic sealant. Indeedy I have tried the 'onyx' wax and as said above its good

As for the 12 month thing I agree with you now if you refresh the wax every 3 months of course it will last 12!

Reminds me of an old gag from only fools and horses where trigger said " I've had the same sweeping brush for the last 12 years, its had 20 new heads and 5 new handles" Or something along those lines!!

my new cupra came with supaguard, i didnt pay for it and they put it on by mistake,i would never ask for it, and i usually ask them not to clean it at all (as this is were the swirls and marks come from, you ever seen the sponges these guys use ) but a quick polish and its all gone now, your lucky if this stuff lasts months, never mind years

So did my car, they only told me when i went to pick it up, they forgot lol.

Mine also has pretty bad swirls marks! Does it make a difference to the stuff when your polish it yourself? It doesnt seem much good to me, dont think it has been done very well though.

the supaguard is just a fancy polish, it wont stay bonded to the paint any longer than any normal polish, so just go ahead and polish it with normal stuff

So whats the point in forking out for it (not that i did) if it dont really last very long?

coz its a con mate, the polish costs about £10 for the dealer to buy, same as most other polishes, your much better off using a good cleaner/glaze/ wax combo

Lol most stuff is a con with dealers!

I assume they have put this stuff on when the car has first gone out on the road. And the swirls have come after when the monkeys been washing it....not very well. How is the best (or a reasonable) way of getting a lot of them out of it? T-cut it down and polish it again myself?

dont use tcut on your car, use megs scratch x on a sponge app.. or a terry sponge, then wipe of with a microfibre, removing swirls by hand is very hard , your better of with a machine, were do you live

Ok, T-cut was just an example of the type of stuff i was meaning.

North East lincs is up grimsby way on, i live near there, skeggy and gainsborough are more south of the county, well south of me anyway! lol

I agree that Supaguard is essentially expensive polish, which technically comes down to the motor trade working out a clever way to sell polish in a novel way to people who don't really understand what it is.

For those uninterested or not exposed to detailing, it's a start albeit an expensive one.

One of my clients had their Porsche Cayenne supaguarded and frankly was very unimpressed.

I agree that great prep is king and cannot be underestimated. I prefer Meguiars products for some simple reasons.

Firstly I know how much money goes into R&D (considerable), they don't openly don't boast about their products (they don't need to as a huge % of OEM's finish their cars on the production line using their products, which nearly no-one knows about and they don't openley publicise) and Meguiars UK on a personal front are some of the most helpful, professional people I have ever dealt with and go out of their way to support the little guy, like me.

So know one rates the supa guard then? I have been offered to get it done for free. Is it better to polish using maguiers than supaguard it. Might get the wheels and the interior done.

My car is now a few years old but still in great condition, the paintwork is top notch and I regularly clean it.

I have some Supaguard lying about but I also have a lot of Megs stuff etc. which I normally use.

So, should I use the Supaguard at all, or should I just stick with what I have already?

Also, if you do recommend the Supaguard, should I put it on straight after washing it and leave it at that or should I put it on with the Megs stuff. if so, should I put it on before or after the Megs?
