Right im goin to be doing my first oil change on my LCR this week! What I want to know is… once the plastic under car/sump cover is removed is the access to the oil filter easy?! (sounds like a stupid question, but I thought id ask! )

And also why do I have a funny feeling the sump plug is not a hexagon and it’s a square? Is it?

If so I guess I just simply use an adjustable spanner?!

Thanks guys!

ps. look here pls! ;) http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?p=970140#post970140

Getting the the filter is kinda awkward and a bit messy, as the lower intercooler pipe runs below it! Not really a problem if you have a FMIC though! :)

Which i do!

so any tips at all? i dont want a messy operation!

Your bound to get some spilage when removing the filter! So if your doing it on your driveway put an old rug or something underneath! I'm lucky enough to have a friend with a pit, so never worry much about making a mess! :D

Dont forget you've got oil lines that get V hot from the turbo (and I've seen your Mani glowing) which can carbonise the oil and leave deposits IIRC.

The flush treatment helps dislodge the deposits.

So yes, next time do it and make sure its upto to temp before you drain.
