Hi all,

I have a 2019 SEAT Leon Cupra and I'm interested in having a subwoofer fitted to the car.

I used to have another SEAT Leon that had "SEAT Sound" which to be fair was fine for my needs - although I appreciate it probably wasn't that great!
Since having my newer car I've noticed the lack of bass when listening to music.

So I have a few questions I'm hoping you can answer:

1. Is it possible to fit a subwoofer without changing the existing media and sound system?
2. If so, does anyone have any subwoofer recommendations (along with anything else I might need) that are comparable to SEAT Sound or better?
3. I don't want it to take up loads of space within the car (I don't even know where the SEAT Sound subwoofer was!) so having it hidden or minimal would be most ideal.

Looking forward to getting a little more bass going!

Thanks in advance!

The seat sound subwoofer goes in the spare wheel.

If you were happy with the performance of that system then it can be retrofitted to your new car, an all inclusive kit is sold here for £335: https://eastyorkshireretrofits.co.uk/products/leon-seat-sound-retrofit-kit?variant=34922791108773

You can either complete the install yourself, or meet him (the guy is called Kieran Walkington) to have it all done for you. The guide to do it DIY is linked here: https://eastyorkshireretrofits.co.uk/pages/guides

If you wan't to go further with aftermarket kit, then I don't have any advice to give as not looked in to it myself - but hopefully someone else here will be able to help :).

Thanks for the info Jack, definitely something to consider.

Amazing. The cost for the same parts here in Greece was 150€.
Its not so much the parts (2 speakers - Subwoofer and dash speaker), but all the plug and play wiring looms being created and it also includes remote setup, as your unit in the glovebox will also need coding to take advantage of the bits and use the Seat Sound Profile.

Athens Greece
Parts: 150€
VCP: 260€

So for (more or less) the same price you can even buy your own VCP and do other mods as well. Then again it's UK pricing so what do we know...

Chances are you're getting the parts cheaper than us. 2 years ago when I first looked at this, all the parts needed where £150, but then the VC was only £600 and now its more like £700.

However for me I paid for it to all be done and installed at once along with a new updated VC. Reminds me of this though...

A giant ship engine failed. The ship’s owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fix the engine.

Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was a young. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.

Two of the ship’s owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed!

A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand pounds.

“What?!” the owners exclaimed. “He hardly did anything!”

So they wrote the old man a note saying, “Please send us an itemised bill.

The man sent a bill that read:

Tapping with a hammer………………….. £ 2.00

Knowing where to tap…………………….. £ 9,998.00

So I suppose its less hassle. But if you can do it cheaper you can start competing and maybe help some Forum members out as you are in the other thread :)

I'm getting Seat Sound retrofitted this Saturday by Kieran Walkington , for someone who is not very good with taking cars apart I think its reasonable price to pay for his skills and experience.

You going to his thing at Xscape Castleford on Saturday?

This is definitely me, no skills with taking cars apart etc. Be interested to hear how you get on :)
Hope it all goes well mate.

Out of interest, how does the SEAT Sound sub compare to some of the mini active subs I’ve seen since I’ve been looking? I presume the SEAT option works within the media system whereas these third party ones don’t?

Yes the sub is controlled via the sound settings via Media, has its own volume Control, plus no need to splice into front / rear speaker feeds plus a switched power feed.

How much is it costing? Whereabouts is he based? I’m very tempeted to get this done myself. Can you do a review once you’ve had it fitted please.

Any update on this JCB360 ? I'm tempted to have this done along with the reversing camera but i'm just struggling to see how it can be so much of an improvement by simply adding a single speaker and a sub? Of course the bass will improve drastically i'm sure but the actual quality, how can it improve so much? The cost of the parts seems a bit expensive too, a small speaker, a small sub and a wiring harness for £335, are the speakers that good? i appreciate that includes the flashing of the glove box unit too.

I’m getting the sub done a week on Friday. I’ll post initial thoughts. I was going to get the camera done too but I don’t think it’s worth the upgrade as I have the parking sensors.

Brilliant, thanks. I've got the sensors too but definitely missing having a camera a bit.

I personally think it’s worth it. Also includes updates to the sound profile to better make use of the increased range of the speakers.
