Just got myself a Vibe CBR12A, and an expensive autoleads wiring kit, i know where to run everything. In My Ibiza Cupra TDi

Do you recommend i run the cables just underneath the plastic trim near bottom of the door? if so how do i go about lifting it up.

Im getting my dealer to feed the Power Cable into the engine bay i couldnt see this gromit i have read about on the forum i could see one but it looked like i would have to remove the scuttle panel and wasnt sure how.

Any advise or hints and tips for me

I got the dealer to show me where the grommit is and I was surprised how i missed it! The thing that gets me is the same as you. People say u just clip off the side sills but i tried it 2day and i swear to god they are welded on! If you come up with anything please let me know x

I see. What did you use to ease them off with? And do they go on easyer than they come off?

Strong hands! :D No seriously they are just held on by strong metal clip's and will come off with a good strong pull. I wouldnt use a screwdriver etc as this will mark the plastic.

Firstly...What guage are you running? 0-guage goes through the grommet near the scuttle panel on the passenger side. PM me your mobile and ill send you a pic tomorrow afternoon. Save you paying the steelers a fortune!!

Secondly...run the power cables up the passenger side under the plastic sill. Taking this off requires just brute strength-start from the side closest to the dash. You don't need to completely remove this, just hinge it up. When you get to the seat belt you can feed the wire through then tuck it under the trim and up under the seat to the boot.

Thirdly....using the same guage of wire. Lift the carpet under the rear bench (passenger side) you will see a large bolt. Loosen and attach the earthing wire here.

Fourthly....Get under your dash on the drivers side. You will see 3 torx srews-remove these. The tray will pull down. Also remove the hidden tray thing and the fuse cover.

Fithly....run the 12v remote and RCA's from the headunit, under the dash (where you just dropped the tray. Lift the door plastic sill as you did before, now, pass cables down the back of the trim where the bonnet pull is. This is tricky so be patient. Feed remote and RCA's up the sill as you did with the power cable.

Sixthly...connect power cable to the battery and hide the in-line fuse holder under the battery cover. (DO NOT put in fuse yet)

Lastly...connect your power, earth, RCA and remote to the amp, and the RCA's and remote to the headunit. Now put your fuse in at the battery.

Crank up the tunes and begin to wonder when you will have the time to fill the car with Dynamat!

i took the gromit out to run the power cable through, but the gromit just feeds into a space under the scuttle panel, there us a fair few cables that are coming up from behind the dash and i guess i need to feed it down near one of them.

Any ideas on how you remove the scuttle panel

when i done mine i used a welding rod u could use a coat hanger made straight just push the coat hanger wire through rubber gromet then go inside the car and look for it behind the carpet once found tape cable on and pull throughthis is prob the hardest thing to do out of everything to me this is the easiest way to do it hope you get what i mean

got it all in spot on. Just one problem i now have an ESP light and ABS light on!!!! they didnt come on straight away, they let me drive for about 20meters then came on, went off again for a bit then came back on!!!

should i power the AMP directly from the battery or to the board that sits ontop of the battery where all the other power cables etc go

They are for your ESP etc etc.

Wire your amp straight from the positive on the battery.

so when i connected up to that , thats probably whats f****ed it all, cause now i have ESP Light along with the ABS and no power steering!!!! i did have it wired to the ones on top, it looked easier to put them there cause there was spare places above the terminals

Im phoning the dealer tomorrow to get them to come and collect it, i think i will get them to connect the battery up for me incase it happens again!!

did that, first thing i did was take the power cable offand wrapped some insulation tape over the end, it started out being just the ESP and ABS then today the power steering packed in

lol wiring an amp must be the most simple job but you sound like its a mission!

look on the bulk head for a grommet (black ring looking thing) with wires probably taped together going through it, if its anything like mine this is where you want the power wire to go.

feed the power wire, RCA cables and remote turn on down different paths to the back if you can, RCA should be kept away from the power and remote.

Dont forget to fuse the power cable less than 12'' from the battery also.

The power cable will just fix to the battery + terminal, is there not a battery clamp holding everything else to the battery? if there is stick it in there.

cant see why any warning lights should come on!

best guess would be to disconnect the battery and leave a fair while for the ECU to reset itself.

Have fun
