Hi,
Sounds like they have fitted a aftermarket clutch cable? It needs that spring on it to give the pedal that little bit of free play and stop the release bearing resting on the pressure plate all the time.
If it has been modified then would have thought they would have issued a different type of spring design? on the polo and golf's they used to have a spring fitted between the gearbox casing and clutch operating arm that the cable fits on too.
But the last cable I fitted to a arosa ( few months ago ) had the spring on it, but it was a genuine seat part.
good luck with getting it sorted out
Jochen.

I think it must be an aftermarket one - they've given it the slack in the cable like they would with any other car that doesn't have the spring, but its made the pedal feel odd compared to what I've got used to.

At least the car is driving again, although I might ask them about replacing it with a proper OEM one - don't know if I could expect them to do it at a reduced rate due to the proper one not being fitted in the first place, although I didn't specify I wanted an OEM one at the time.....?

In respect to the clutch problem, mine is doing a similar thing.

When you press the clutch pedal down when starting a jurney its fine. After 20mins into a drive it starts the horrible squeeqy noise when its pushed down.

I had the pedal box greased and now im guessing its something to do with the cable but unfortunatly i can only prove it does it when the car is 'warm' as in the morning its fine? lol, madness?!?

(it had a full new clutch early in the year so im not thinking its that)

I agree with the title, they are pretty @~#£& and if it carries on giving me grief it can go.
