hi,

since i had my new facelift ibiza FR 1.2tsi with the new style stereo i have noticed a strange disturbance in the sound when listening to FM, its best described as a very subtle ripple passing through the audio every 2-3 sec and it repeats with exactly the same frequency every time and its not there on cd or any other music source.

its there on all radio stations, so as a test i used one of those small fm transmitters for listening to your mp3 player in the car and i tuned it in and then played nothing so in effect i had a silent fm station, i then turned up the volume and sure enough i can hear small pops repeated every 3 sec, it sounds like: pop, d, d, d, pop, d, d, d......

so has anyone else noticed this or would be willing to try and replicate it to see if its just mine, maybe its faulty?

to me it sounds like its picking up one of the cars modules or something, but i know my old 2010 ibiza (blaupunkt radio) didnt do it, but this new radio the Technisat 1.2x definately does.

Is it just when the engine's running, anytime the ignition is on, or even when the key is out?

Hi, its there all the time but only on fm, its hard to hear it plainly without using a transmitter to get silence ie no music playing, but the effect is a distortion of the sound every 3-6 sec.

I showed an electronics guy at work and he said it sounds like small start up pops almost as if something taking power is turning on/off every 6 sec or so but with the ignition off my only assumption is it must be something within the radio :/
