strange noise from front drivers side wheel area

hi
i was out in my car last night and when in first gear and second (with tc on and off) the car was making a aweful grinding whizzing noise and i am sure i can feel some vibration through the steering wheel aswell.its never done it before no it does it all the time
any ideas what it could be?

brakes maybe? had a similar issue in my astra where i fitted brake pads which didnt work with the sensors and eventually the brake pad was soo worn it began eatin away at the disk - i could be wrong tho

could this be worn ARB bushes as it does seem to run very close to the bodywork?as every thing else seems to have very little play in it.

Bearing, pads, gearbox, arch liner rub?

Does it do it all the time or just in first and seconds?

yeh its only 1st and 2nd,
ive had wheel off and the only thing that looks like it could be it is antiroll bar.
